ABOUT

California boasts remarkable biodiversity, a legacy nurtured by generations of Native peoples. The Western Blue Elderberry, deeply rooted in this heritage, paves the way for a climate-resilient future.

The Elderberry Project is led by White Buffalo Land Trust and is made possible with a USDA Climate-Smart Commodities Grant.

  • Production

We support growers with the establishment and management of Western Blue Elderberry trees.

  • Processing

We are building out processing capabilities for the Western Blue Elderberry at a facility in Santa Barbara County and partnering with a drying facility in Oregon.

  • Market Development

We are working with companies to develop products with the Western Blue Elderberry.

We are deeply grateful for our partners as we all work together to bring this crop to market.
